Class Mascot… and Rebels!

Silas and Avery are loving school.  It is truly amazing to see how much they've changed in the short three months they've been going.  They are in the Dalmation class, Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Smith, whom they love.  Some days they love to tell me all about it, and some days I must infer from their conversations what is going on… Every morning on the way to school, they sing "Good Morning Little Sunshine", a Moppy original that is super catchy and even sweeter.  I wouldn't trade it for the world.  Then, as we pass the Flag store, in unison, they break out in "God, Bless America… Land that I love…"  The whole thing.  It is truly hilarious.  But, I must say I feel patriotic when they finish and can't listen without smiling.  It's impossible to start off a day badly with these two to entertain me!  I do have videos and will post soon.

Each weekend, one of their classmates takes the mascot home. Avery's turn was a few weekends ago - we were supposed to take the dog everywhere and take pictures with it.  She was beyond excited:
And kept it with her at all times…
It preached from the pulpit at FBC Jackson...
and sat with her in the pew…

And went with her to Mr. Mike's class…

We did take it to Oxford… just had to leave it in the car, of course :-)

The TN game was, again, a beautiful day for Grovin'… this was the only game both kids were able to go to, and we loved cheering on cousin Little Max (even if he does play for TN).  They had such fun in the Grove and we loved seeing Moppy and Poppy and family for a little bit.  It warms my heart to see them climbing and playing in the same trees Grace and I used to when we were little!

We crammed into the line and held them up high to see the Walk of Champions. "Mom, those boys are really, really big", said Silas.

It is so neat how my college friends' kids are automatically friends with my kids.  Ah, the Ole Miss family. :-)

We got to our seats early and practiced our cheers:

While Daddy scored a Field Pass (lucky duck!) and hung around Archie, Andy Kennedy, Governor Bryant, Deuce, you name it.  He did (nicely or gloatingly) send videos of up close plays during the game…  But hey, we had fun in the stands - and provided entertainment for our neighbors.  I truly don't know how others take their 4 year olds to every game!

They had no trouble getting into the spirit of the game and high-fiving and jumping up and down the entire game!

Love those Land Sharks!

Whew, I felt like I'd played in the game afterwards…  but of course, wouldn't trade it for the world.  Life is simply more fun with Silas and Avery!

Mimi was in town and picked up Silas and Avery from school, then was super Mimi as she took all four grands to eat lunch!

One last thing… this Momma is so proud of these Star Students!!!  Each student apparently has a card in class and they get a "star" when they do something good or obey, etc.  Silas was Star Student one day then Avery was the Star Student the very next day.  Their teacher sent me these pics… and these were days when they told me all about school.  Love!

Halloween 2014

Pumpkin carving 2014: success!  We had so much fun with our friends and carved some cute/scary pumpkins...

He was so proud of his "glowing scwawy face"!
We did carve an "S" and an "A" on appropriate pumpkins as we are quite territorial these days...

In case you ever wondered, yes, you can carve those little bitty pumpkins.

What a mess night!

We did love the fall festivals, the parties, all 6 times we dressed up before trick or treat night... But costumes held on by threads! Finally, it was time for the real deal!

We love our sweet neighborhood friends!
And our super fun neighbors who don't have children yet... But who go the extra mile to make the night fun for all!

Guess who?

The crew took a halftime break to eat pizza at our house... then went back out for more!  Well, all except this little buddy of mine who wanted to sit and hand out candy at our house... he did hand-pick each person's candy. They'd approach and say "Trick or Treat" and Silas would look at them, their costume, then he would select one, two, or a handful of candy to put in their bag according to his approval.  (the pretty girls got the most and best candy).  This was hilarious to me.

Here are a few pics from our 1st Fall Festival at Church which was a huge success!  Both Silas and Avery loved having their faces painted:

And finally, Silas is one serious bike rider.  His training wheels must come off soon!
One must stay hydrated, so he has found another way.  (I'm glad he is using both hands on his bike:-)

Happy Birthday Papaw... what a GameDay!

After the pumpkin picking... we enjoyed a delicious birthday supper for Papaw!  He had plenty of helpers for the candles...

Happy!

Early Saturday, Papaw came in from squirrel hunting and these buds went for a ride!  Silas has been wanting to do this for weeks!  Actually, a few weeks ago, I was lying in bed with Silas before bedtime and asked him what we should give Papaw for his birthday. He said, stately, "a tractor. an orange tractor."  When I told Papaw, he said "well Silas, buddy, Papaw only drives green tractors."  I relayed the text message to Silas who said "okay, well then... how about a hat. a tractor hat."  Good idea, little buddy!

After brother's turn, Avery couldn't resist!

Bruce and I headed up to Oxford with Mom and Dad - for the much anticipated Game Day!  On the walk to the Grove, we met up with this old fella:

He does look a little old and tired..... not many of these left around....

Grovin'  The place was packed... I felt like the running back looking for holes in the Bama defensive line.

We've been playing in the Grove since circa 1985 or so... #sisters!

The Game Day trailer selfie!

It's always so great to see wonderful college friends!!

And, wow, what a game!!  An epic birthday for Daddy!!

Fall Fun - Pumpkin Picking

Last weekend, Silas and Avery were so excited that Mommy took off half a day and picked them up at school. It was the sweetest thing - they saw my car in the carpool line and I could see them jumping up and down in excitement... it was such a treat (FOR ME!!).  We had packed the car the night before, so we stopped at "Chick-a-lay" and headed up to Mimi and Papaw's house!  Eleanor and Garnett weren't far behind us.  We changed clothes after we arrived and I took the three oldest while Mimi and GG took Garnett to Uncle Bam's Farm, right outside of Grenada.  Three excited kiddos here!

The horses, goats, chickens, geese, pigs, roosters... received so much aggressive loving attention:

And obviously all parties involved loved the experience.  Honestly, these animals were the friendliest, sweetest I've ever seen!

Pumpkin Bowling!!  Silas did well... his mom never hit a pin!

Mimi, of course, joined in on the fun! They say the corn "bath" feels like the spa.... I'm not so sure...

Kicking it back, shooting the breeze...

And this sweet little "reindeer" (as Silas and Avery called it) reminded me of the little deer at Oxberry with an orange collar that I used to pet and feed when I was about 4 or 5!

And of course, a pumpkin picking isn't complete without a fun hayride !

In awe.  "I wish, I wish, I wish..."

Such a fun day!
