Jet lag finally subsided and we finally finished unpacking and began Samuel's doctor appointments. We spent a day in Birmingham at the International Adoption Clinic where he was screened for all sorts of things common in children from China. The doctors are so thorough and spent a few hours with us talking about attachment processes and addressing his mild developmental delay. He passed all testing with flying colors, including a hearing test performed by GG! He is picking up English quickly, and understands most everything... way more than he says. He can say about 6 or 7 words now (Momma, Baba, ball, 'nana (banana), NO, ruff-ruff...) but mimics anything we say. It'll be no time before he gives Avery a run for her money.
Samuel received zero immunizations in China, so we started those and should be caught up by mid-spring. Since he is already two years old, the catch up schedule isn't as long.
Everyone was excited about dressing up for all the Halloween festivities, so we spent several afternoons trying on our costumes...
And these two... it's like they were cut from the same cloth...
One weekend in October, Avery went to spend the weekend in Grenada with Mimi and Papaw...and Mimi took her with Eleanor and Garnett to see Cinderella at the Orpheum. Meanwhile, we had a fun boys weekend at home.
Samuel and I drove Avery to Grenada and enjoyed an afternoon hanging out there. Samuel's first time to Mimi and Papaw's house! The two littlest with Mimi:

And GayGay joined the girls in Memphis! Here they are backstage after Cinderella! I was jealous. (and so was Silas... but his turn for a fun weekend was coming up soon). I must mention that this is the FIRST time EVER that Silas and Avery have spent the night apart... EVER.
